Prelude — Coming Soon Waitlist · Last updated August 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Prelude (“Prelude”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when a Shopify merchant installs and uses the Prelude application (the “App”), and when a shopper submits their details through the App’s waitlist form on a merchant’s storefront.

Who we are

Prelude is an application for the Shopify platform that lets merchants add a “notify me” / waitlist button to coming-soon or out-of-stock products, and view the resulting demand in the Shopify admin. Prelude is operated by the App developer and hosted at preorder.dijalabs.com.

Information we collect

From shoppers. When a shopper submits the waitlist form, we collect the email address they enter and, optionally, the quantity they indicate. We also store the product, variant, and vendor the request relates to, and the date and time of the request. We do not ask shoppers for their name, address, or payment details, and Prelude never takes payment.

From merchants. When a merchant installs the App, we receive the store’s myshopify domain and the access granted by the merchant during installation, which we use to associate waitlist data with the correct store. Prelude requests no access to customer, order, or product data through Shopify’s APIs beyond what is required to run the App.

How we use information

We use the information solely to provide the App’s core function: storing waitlist signups and displaying them to the merchant in their Shopify admin, grouped and filterable so the merchant can plan restocks. Email addresses submitted through the form belong to the merchant and are shown only to that merchant. We do not send marketing email to shoppers, and we do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.

Data storage and security

Waitlist data is stored on a private server operated for the App and is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Access is restricted to the App and the operator. We retain waitlist data for as long as the merchant keeps the App installed and the record is useful for demand planning.

Data retention and deletion

When a merchant uninstalls the App, or in response to Shopify’s mandatory data-erasure requests, the associated waitlist records for that store are deleted. Prelude implements Shopify’s GDPR compliance webhooks (customers/redact, shop/redact, and customers/data_request) to support shopper and merchant data requests.

Your rights

Shoppers may request access to, or deletion of, the email address they submitted by contacting the merchant whose store they used, or by contacting us at the email below. Merchants may export or delete their waitlist data at any time from within the App, or by uninstalling it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
